The Nightmare before Christmas is directed by Henry Selick (Coraline) and written by Tim Burton and Michael McDowell. The lead character of Jack Skellington is voiced by Chris Sarandon but the singing voice is Danny Elfman, Elfman also wrote the score for the film. This is a lovely little movie with an interesting story, done in stop motion animation that still holds up more than 15 years later. I have never met a child who found anything scary about this movie even though there are scary creatures in it. Tim Burton and Disney re-released the film in 2007 in 3D. Disney at it’s best.
IMDB synopsis
Jack Skellington, the pumpkin king of Halloween Town, is bored with doing the same thing every year for Halloween. One day he stumbles into Christmas Town, and is so taken with the idea of Christmas that he tries to get the resident bats, ghouls, and goblins of Halloween town to help him put on Christmas instead of Halloween — but alas, they can’t get it quite right.
