Zachary Quinto and Chris Pine as Spock and Kirk
This is a trip back to the beginning. When they met, how they met, so on and so forth. I still do not like what J J Abrams said about the fans and Gene Roddenberry but this is a good movie and it has a lot to offer old fans and new fans alike. There is a time twist that leaves new stories available for sequels, it’s clever, true and fun. They did mess with things a bit to achieve this, I will not say what because I do not wish to spoil it for you. The casting was spot on and Chris Pine and Karl Urban were perfect for Kirk and Bones. The script was well written with the proper Star Trek vernacular. I think Roddenberry would have liked this film. Rated PG-13 for sci-fi action and violence, and brief sexual content. The sexual content is Kirk under the sheets with a girl, no nudity. The scene is so tame you could show it on TV. I think 10 and up is a better call than 13 but there is violence and bodies flying into space so unless your child has already seen Star Trek movies and loves them I would follow the rating. mom scale ☆☆☆☆

Kirk (Pines) and Bones (Urban) on the bridge of the Enterprise

Thank you for the critic – I was thinking of going to see the movie but was having a hard time getting past the new characters playing the familiar parts…
